Benefits and use of almonds

In this blog  I'll tell you about a food that most people eat especially went on a diet or we're just trying to eat healthier and that's almonds. They're great to take with you since they don't require any refrigeration but before we get into all the benefits let's talk a little bit about almonds.

Almonds

Now you may be surprised to hear that almonds aren't a nut but actually a fruit from an almond tree. now it's considered a stone fruit it belongs in the same family such as peaches cherries and nectarines since it has a fleshy outer layer. The difference between an almond and all those other fruits is that instead of the outer layer becoming soft the seed is the part that grows and produces the almonds that we eat. And one more quick fact about almonds is that most of the omnes that you're buying in the store are not actually raw almonds but they've been heat pasteurized.  you can only buy raw almonds one of two ways either directly from the grower at a place such as a farmers market or if they've been imported from another country. The reason for this is because almond growers in California. experienced a salmonella outbreak in the early 2000s and after that all almonds that are grown and sold in the United States have to be heat pasteurized.
